The truth is, not every holiday season or special occasion will bring the same kind of surge in traffic for every blog niche.
Therefore, it is important for you to find the season that is directly related to your blog niche.
Do you already have related blog posts that can be converted to seasonal content?
Do you have products or lead magnets related to specific seasons that can draw more sales and subscribers?
Taking into consideration the above two questions will help you find the right season to work on.
After all, when it comes to running an online business, we need to make sure we are investing our time and effort on things that can bring us the greatest returns.
Especially for busy mom bloggers, like myself, there’s simply no time to waste!
2. Give yourself sufficient runway
In general, people would be searching online for seasonal content about one month before the special occasion.
If the special occasion demands gifts, then searches might start even 6 to 8 weeks before the event.
For example, for occasions like Mother’s Day and Christmas, it is not uncommon for people to start searching for related content one to two months ahead of time because they want to plan for a budget or browse for gifts before finally deciding on their purchases.
With that in mind, you also want to think about how much time it takes for your new blog post or new pin to gain traction in terms of SEO on Google and on Pinterest.
Therefore, ideally, you should publish seasonal content 3 months ahead of time.
But I would admit that I’m not as diligent as that.
So working with a 2 month or, minimally, a one-month timeline would be great if you want to fully maximize the surge in seasonal traffic.

2 months ahead of the holiday season:
– Create seasonal related product/lead magnet
– Set up sale pages and email sequences
– Publish seasonal related blog post
– Create several seasonal blog posts for a further boost in traffic. One quick way is to create round-up posts.
– Create new pins every week related to your seasonal content and actively add highly related third party pins to your specific seasonal Pinterest boards to build more quality content.
1 month ahead:
– Run paid campaigns for the entire month to maximize the amount of traffic you can capture on social media to promote your product
– Start emailing your subscribers about your seasonal content. Give a sneak preview to your paid product or offer early bird sales!
1 week after:
– Evaluate how your efforts have paid off! Take note of what you missed and how you can further improve for the next season.
