4 Essential Tips On How To Use Pinterest To Drive Traffic To Your Website

by Faith

“How to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your website?”

That’s a question MANY new bloggers ask.

In fact, bloggers who have been blogging for one to two years might still be wondering what is the best Pinterest strategy to help them grow their blog traffic.

Pinterest plays a huge role in driving traffic to my blog but it hadn’t always been easy.

Like many others, I have heard so many bloggers talk about how awesome Pinterest is in generating organic traffic to their blogs, but I was totally clueless as a new blogger.

It took me hundreds of dollars spent on many Pinterest courses (some more helpful than others) and lots of trial and error before I finally figured out how to steadily grow my blog traffic with Pinterest.

You see, even though some Pinterest marketing courses have provided many useful tips, it isn’t always clear the exact steps that I, in particular, should be taking.

Sometimes, the tips provided in the various Pinterest marketing courses can be so overwhelming that it is simply too difficult to implement.

Therefore, I still needed time to figure things out to make sure they apply to my situation in particular.

If only I had someone to look at my Pinterest profile and tell me exactly what I was missing and what I was doing wrong. That would have saved me so much time and expedited my blog growth!

Wouldn’t you want that for yourself, too?

This is why I know PPPR can be helpful to you. (What’s PPPR? More on PPPR later!)

For now, here are the essential tips on how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your website!

4 Essential tips on how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your website

Pin me to your blogging tips boards!

1. Create attractive AND click-worthy pins

It isn’t sufficient to create pins that are pretty, you have to make sure your pins are outstanding in midst of the sea of pins in the Pinterest feed.

Even then, you don’t just want your pin to be attractive enough to be saved by Pinterest users, you want your pin to draw your target audience and compel them to click on it right now!

If you are new to creating pins on Canva, here’s a step-by-step video tutorial to teach you how to create attractive pins in minutes!

2. Make sure your Pinterest profile, boards, and pins are properly KEYWORDED

As a blogger, you should be familiar with the term SEO.

Just as you want to optimize your blog posts so that they can rank amongst the first few results on Google when someone searches for a particular set of keywords, you want to make sure your entire Pinterest profile is optimized for SEO as well.

For that to happen, all your boards and pins, and even your profile, should have descriptions that are properly keyworded.

This is the best Pinterest course that walks you through step by step on how to set up your Pinterest profile, do keyword research, and how best to write your pin descriptions in order to optimize your Pinterest SEO.

3. Create multiple pins for each blog post

I create three to five pins for each new blog post that I publish. I’d then pin them to different boards over several days using Tailwind. (Enjoy one FREE month of Tailwind by signing up here!)

I also do a lot of manual pinning and that has been incredibly helpful in growing my Pinterest traffic.

Here’s the manual pinning strategy that is super effective in growing your blog traffic for both beginner and advanced bloggers!

4. Pin consistently

If you want the Pinterest gods to favor your content and drive more traffic to your pins, then you’d need to present fresh pins regularly and consistently.

This is why having a Tailwind scheduler can be very helpful. You can create many pins in one session and then schedule your pins to different boards throughout the weeks ahead.

“How many pins should you pin on Pinterest in one day?”

Well, Pinterest has finally come out to say that you should pin around 20 pins a day.  Anything too excessive will be deemed as spammy.

The 20 pins can be a mix of your own pins as well as third party pins.  With Pinterest favoring fresh pins, it is of great importance that you should have new pins amongst the 20 pins.

The key is to pin consistently so you’d want to pace yourself and spread out maybe two to five new pins every day.

Creating that many fresh pins can be very daunting. But not if you have awesome pin templates that can save you lots of time and effort!

Growing your blog traffic with Pinterest

The truth is, using Pinterest to drive free traffic to your blog isn’t difficult at all.

But it does take consistent effort over a period of time for you to see the results.

Whether you are a new blogger or an advanced blogger, you’d always want to diversity your blog traffic streams.

Being overly dependent on only one source of blog traffic can be detrimental to your blog income if there’s a major change in algorithm be in on Google, Pinterest, or any other social media platforms.

However, I still believe getting free organic Pinterest is one of the easiest ways to grow your blog traffic within the shortest time.

But, of course, you need to have the right Pinterest marketing strategy!

These are fantastic tips. I usually pin about 20-ish pins (mine and others) a day so I’m glad to know that is a good number and that any more might look spammy.
